A new paper on “Sound externalization: a review of recent research” by Best et al. has been accepted by Trends in Hearing.
Keerthi Doreswamy received an extraordinary scholarship for publishing activities from the Institute of Informatics, UPJS.
Ondrej Spišák received “Annual Rector’s Award for representing UPJS in professional, scientific and research activities”
We were awarded a new internal UPJS grant to study auditory cortical processing using multi-variate pattern analysis.

Mukul Agarwal (formerly from Boston University) is visiting the lab until April 2019 to work on “Distance perception by the Human Ear: An approach via multivariate analysis of fMRI data”, supported by a grant from SAIA.
Norbert gave a talk at the the 42nd MidWinter meeting of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology in Baltimore (abstractpresentation).

June 2017 Carlos Trenado from Duesseldorf University Hospital visits us on a Short-Term Scientific Mission grant to work on “Stochastic resonance in auditory spatial discrimination and its possible implications for tinnitus”, supported by the TINNET grant.

April 2017 Gabika Andrejkova was awarded the Large Medal of St. Gorazd by the Minster of Education of Slovakia for her educational work on the Olympiad in Informatics.

March 2017 New paper “Streaming and sound localization with a preceding distractor” by Norbert Kopčo, Gabriela Andrejková, Virginia Best and Barbara Shinn-Cunningham was accepted for publication in The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America Express Letters.

Feb 2017 Eleni Vlahou was awarded a Short-Term Scientific Mission grant to work on a videogame that improves tinnitus symptoms using spatial hearing training with virtual auditory display techniques, in collaboration with colleagues from the TINNET consortium.

Feb 2017 We were awarded a new grant to study Plasticity of spatial processing in normal and cochlear implant hearing, in collaboration with our colleagues at the Austrian Academy of Science and Charles University.

We gained access to powerful computational infrastructure within the Slovak national project Data center for science and research (a multi-cpu cluster with Matlab and SAS)

Our lab joins TINNET: An Action for Better Understanding the Heterogeneity of Tinnitus to Improve and Develop New Treatments, a European research network funded by the COST program under the Action number BM1306.
